Courting Art is a grassroots effort conceived and led by the Montgomery Bar Association and members of its Community Outreach Committee (COC). Through a series of juried, volunteer art initiatives, Courting Art aims to promote a more comfortable, visitor-friendly Montgomery County Court House interior by populating it with artwork for and by its many proud residents.
For our inaugural contest and exhibition, "What I Love About Montgomery County", we invited artists and aspiring artists from throughout Montgomery County to create and submit original paintings and mixed media for a juried, VIP art exhibition and contest.
Prizes will be awarded for winning entries at the conclusion of this year's event. Unique to this year's Courting Art exhibition and contest, our esteemed panel of judges included among others; sitting judges from Pennsylvania's 38th Judicial District's Court of Common Pleas. Over 100 pieces of art were received and over 40 pieces took home prizes. Following the exhibition, all art was returned to its creators and winners were be notified. One giclée reproduction or likeness of each winning piece was then produced at the expense of Montgomery Bar Association and its sponsors and over $4,500 in prizes were awarded. These reproductions have since been hung for the public to enjoy for years to come on the once-tired walls of the Montgomery County Court House.

For Local Artists, Senior Communities, Art Centers, Schools and Community Groups
Courting Art will provide a series of wide-reaching opportunities to showcase your work and talent. While this year's art exhibition and contest calls specifically for paintings and mixed media from Montgomery County seniors and adult communities, we may extend our reach to other groups and artistic media in the future.
Next year, all art will be juried prior to the exhibition and contest and all artwork on display at the exhibition will be eligible for prizes. A single giclée reproduction of each winning entry will be produced and hung on our Court House walls. Reproductions of all winning artwork will be accompanied by an attractive plaque, ensuring each artist's creative contribution and artistic legacy will be admired and appreciated for generations to come.
