Yes, Washington did have legal counsel present at Valley Forge to advise, assist and enable him to deal with the day to day legal requirements of running his army from contracts to procure food & supplies to his relationships & communications with the various state governments to interpreting the rules set by the Congress and conducting courts martial. This CLE will focus on the importance of these counselors & will highlight three such men: John Marshall, John Laurance & Alexander Hamilton. It will provide insight to what ultimately evolved into the army's Judge Advocate Corps.
