Norristown, PA - At a ceremony on Thursday, September 15, 2016 The Montgomery Bar Association Community Outreach Committee ("MBA-COC") officially dedicated artwork from its Courting Art Contest & Exhibition to the Montgomery County Family Court Conciliators Building, located at 321 Swede Street in Norristown.
The 2016 theme, "MONTCO IN MOTION" challenged local artists to explore and celebrate active lifestyles, community happenings and Montgomery County's rich recreational assets. Bright, uplifting entries that appeal to children and families were encouraged and to everyone's delight, local artists again responded in a big way. Thanks to participating artists and sponsrs, over 80 artists in total now have their artwork on display in Montgomery County Family Court.
In addition to the Courting Art winners, the MBA's Family Court Section also commissioned a mural behind the reception desk in the same building. The mural was inspired by a stage production of "Peter Pan" by students at Montgomery County Community College, and includes inspiration quotes from J.M. Barrie's beloved children's novel.
The ceremony was hosted by MBA-COC Chair Hon. Carolyn Tornetta Carluccio. Judge Carluccio was joined by Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh, members of the bench of the Court of Common Pleas, 38th Judicial District, members of the MBA-COC, Courting Art sponsors and supporters, and, of course, the artists that participated in this year's competition.
