MONTCO IN MOTION: Montgomery Bar Association's Community Outreach Committee Launches 4th Annual Courting Art Contest and Exhibition for Montgomery County Artists

Courting Art

Norristown, PA - The Montgomery Bar Association's Community Outreach Committee is asking artists in Montgomery County to explore active lifestyles by capturing movement, creativity, performance, and living life as we know it in Montgomery County. From our playgrounds, ball fields, river trails and entertainment venues, to our busy streets, historic reenactments, and shopping hubs - there's plenty of inspiration here in Montco. It's time to capture the motion on canvas for the whole county to cherish for years to come.

Now in its fourth year, Courting Art began as a grassroots effort led by the Montgomery Bar Association (MBA) and members of its Community Outreach Commitee (COC). Through a series of juried, volunteer art initiatives, Courting Art aims to promote a more comfortable, visitor-friendly Montgomery County Court House interior by populating it with artwork for and by its many proud residents. Over 100 works of art from area artists now adorn the walls of the Montgomery County Court House as a result of the contests of the past three years.

The MBA COC is inviting all artists from Montgomery County to create and submit original paintings and mixed media for a juried exhibition and contest. Artwork should incorporate this year's new theme, "MONTCO IN MOTION". Our esteemed panel of judges will include, among others, sitting judges from Pennsylvania's 38th Judicial District Court of Common Pleas. Dozens of winning pieces will be selected, reproduced, and displayed for years to come in an area of our Courts frequented by kids and families. All artists whose work has been selected will be awarded monetary prizes, including a grand prize of $1,000. Interested artists are asked to visit www.courtingart.com for more information, including instructions on how to enter and full details about the contest and exhibition. Artwork should be dropped off at the Montgomery County Community College Fine Arts Center on May 4 between noon and 7 PM.

Members of the public are encouraged to view the submissions during a free exhibition at the MCCC Fine Arts Center from Thursday, May 12, 2016 through Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Exhibition hours are typically from 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM Monday - Thursday and 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Fridays. An Opening Night Awards Reception and Media Event will take place on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 for participants, sponsors, and members of the media.
