A Message from MBA YLS Community Outreach Coordinators Mayer Kohn, Esq. and Robert M. Sebia, Esq.

Hi Everyone,

Our first May Month of Service event has officially begun!  Please consider supporting YLS's virtual can drive for Manna on Main by following this special MBA-only link.  Every dollar counts!

For those who may not know, Manna on Main is an organization in Landsdale committed to ending hunger in the region by providing food, fulfilling social service and education needs, and conducting community outreach. Through a food pantry and soup kitchen, emergency financial aid, counseling and referrals, and education opportunities, Manna on Main serves those in need with the hope “that everyone might be fed.” The MBA has worked with Manna on Main in the past and we wanted to find a way to help out, particularly because Manna on Main needs our help more than ever as a result of COVID-related financial constraints. Rather than trying to coordinate a complicated and socially-distant pick up and drop off of non-perishables in the age of COVID, please give what you can to support Manna on Main!

The drive will end at the end of the month and we hope to hit our goal of $1000.

Our second event is in-person and is scheduled for Saturday, May 15th at Cecil and Grace Bean's Soup Kitchen. Cecil and Grace Bean’s Soup Kitchen is committed to serving meals to food-insufficient residents in the Norristown community. Volunteers are needed to staff the soup kitchen from 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM.  Volunteers prepare and serve meals to all those who come to the soup kitchen during hours of operation. We currently have several volunteers but could certainly use more. If you have not yet done something like this, working in the kitchen is fun and very rewarding. If you are available to help, please RSVP to Mayer Kohn (amayerkohn@gmail.com) or Rob Sebia (RMS@elliottgreenleaf.com).

Finally, in light of the social-distancing protocols that are still in place, and the lack of availability of in-person group volunteer opportunities, we are asking every member to take a “May Month of Service Pledge” to give back to their respective communities. This past year has been tough on everyone and, while we hope things will be back to “normal” sooner rather than later, we are not there yet. Accordingly, if you are unable to participate in either of our events, or even if you want to give back a little extra, we ask that you pledge to set aside at least one day this coming May to volunteer.

Introducing the MBA's Diversity Network Initiative!

Support the Montgomery Bar Association’s Impact on the Community by Connecting Minority-Owned Businesses with our Members.

  • Providers whose services support attorneys and/or law firms.

Our Plan:

  • Create a directory that highlights these businesses
  • Feature these businesses on the MBA website and in other MBA media
  • Develop networking opportunities between these business owners and MBA members
