Topic: The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the practice of family law. This year's Dickman Seminar will explore this impact in a Q&A format featuring Montgomery County judges, masters, practitioners, and court representatives. The seminar will be broken up into two separate panels: one addressing support issues during Covid-19 and one addressing custody issues during Covid-19. The support panel will explore issues such as temporary job loss during the pandemic, the receipt of economic assistance, and changes in the allocation of extracurricular expenses and childcare. The custody panel will deal with issues such as school choice (remote or in-person learning), travel and attendance at family holidays, and the role of the parenting coordinator. Both panels will discuss options for alternative dispute resolution. With Covid-19 cases currently surging in the country, and widespread distribution of a vaccine likely a long way away, attendees will find this seminar to be highly informative and relevant to the current state of the practice of family law.
