Topic: This course will provide definitions and scope of protections of the three main areas of Intellectual Property: Patent, Trademark, and Copyright. The course will identify what actions cause IP rights to spring into existence and whether filing an application is necessary to create the right. The course will also outline the different steps that must be taken to maintain ownership or to transfer ownership. Common business situations such as an employment agreement or sale of business will be addressed and drafting requirements to address ownership to ensure that rights are established and inure to the desired entity.
