Topic: As the Federal Arbitration Act of 1925 and the Pennsylvania Uniform Arbitration Act of 1958 have never been amended, the new Pennsylvania Revised Uniform Arbitration Act, effective July 1, 2019, mandates numerous changes to arbitration practice in Pennsylvania. It abolishes common law arbitration and addresses arbitrability, the initiation of arbitration, arbitrator impartiality, qualification and immunity, discovery, provisional remedies, issuing, modifying and vacating awards, attorney fees and many other new requirements.
