Blue Bell, PA - On Friday, January 9, 2015, the Montgomery Bar Association (MBA) held its Annual Business Meeting Luncheon at Normandy Farms in Blue Bell, PA.  Nearly 300 local dignitaries, legal professionals and community leaders attended the event which included the election of the MBA’s officers for 2015, an awards presentation to honor area attorneys, members of law enforcement and community leaders, as well as the installation of its new president, Bruce Pancio, Esq., with the ceremonial passing of the gavel.  Read more››
Young Lawyers Section Organizes Day of Service

In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 19, members from the Montgomery Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, along with bar leaders and members of the bench, volunteered their time at the Coordinated Homeless Outreach Center of Montgomery County (CHOC).

Mark A. Kearney Confirmed as U.S. District Judge

Washington, DC - On Wednesday, December 3rd, past president Mark A. Kearney ('09) was confirmed by a unanimous voice-vote in the United States Senate to serve as a United States District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the first federal trial court in the United States.  Kearney's confirmation was announced at 5:35 p.m. after winning cloture earlier in the day by a generous margin of 60 votes to 36. Upon confirmation, Kearney will be first lawyer elevated from his Montgomery County office directly to this position in the Court's 225 year history. President Obama nominated Mr. Kearney on June 16, 2014 upon the joint recommendation of Pennsylvania Senators Robert P. Casey and Patrick J. Toomey.

Nearly 600 lbs. of Clothing Collected During YLS Drive

Thank you to all who donated women's professional attire during our recent clothing drive, hosted by the Young Lawyers Section.  Nearly 600 lbs. of clothing were collected and delivered to Dress for Success Philadelphia - an organization dedicated to promoting the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.  Donations were collected at the Delaware Valley Legal Expo, the MBA Building, and participating law firms.

Volunteer Lawyers Prepare Wills for Heroes

Blue Bell, PA - On Saturday morning, September 20th, approximately 15 volunteers from the MBA's Young Lawyers Section teamed up with the PBA to host a local Wills for Heroes event the Centre Square Fire Company. According to PA Wills for Heroes Co-Director Lisa Shearman, attorneys prepared approximately 30 documents in total, including Wills, Powers of Attorney and Health Care Directives for first responders and their spouses so that their families will be protected in the event of a tragedy.

Liberty & Law Civics Education Program Earns High Marks at Norristown Middle Schools

NORRISTOWN, PA – For the past three school years, lawyers and judges throughout Montgomery County have been teaming up to bring civics education to Norristown area middle schools.  The Montgomery Bar Association’s (MBA) volunteer-based Liberty & Law program was designed to help area youth understand the justice system, appreciate the constitution and understand the rights and laws that affect their daily lives.
