Montgomery Bar Association Sponsors Naturalization Court Ceremony
Norristown, PA (5/21/08): -- The Montgomery Bar Association (MBA) American Citizenship Committee sponsored the 2008 Naturalization Court Ceremony at Souderton Area High School on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. County judges and members of the community attended the ceremony to welcome new U.S. citizens to Montgomery County. The new citizens were naturalized, reminded of the privileges and duties associated with being a U.S. citizen, and were honored for their unique contributions to the community.
The Honorable Paul W. Tressler opened court and oversaw the ceremony. The Honorable Mark Levy administered the Oath of American Citizenship to the applicants and remarks were made by members of the community to welcome the new citizens to Montgomery County. Two students from Souderton Area High School, Angela Hess and Wajeeha Zaheer spoke about how their families came to America and the opportunities that they have had since coming to the United States. The ceremony adjourned with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the National Anthem led by the Souderton Area High School Concert Choir. After the ceremony, a reception for all new citizens and their families was held at the High School on behalf of the Women’s Club of Montgomery County.
