Topic: JRI 2 was signed into law on December 18, 2019. The package substantially changes a wide variety of existing criminal laws. Many of these provisions are already in effect. County and State intermediate punishment were eliminated and replaced with State Drug Treatment Program and Probation with Restrictive Conditions. RRRI and Boot Camp were changed. There are changes impacting state parole including Short Sentence Parole. There is a post-release supervision provision for those whom max out. There is a restoration of some mandatory minimum sentences. The package impacts what complies for DUI mandatory minimums with an intention to overturn Popielarcheck (190A.3d 1137). It provides for Resentencing Guidelines.
